驚いた！

あきらかに、時代が変わった。

米国のベイラー大学の消化器病のセクションには、デイビット・グラハム教授がいるため、ピロリ菌による胃癌研究の最先端施設であり、ピロリ菌除菌を強行的に推進してきた。米国陸軍としてベトナム戦争に参加したことのあるグラハム教授は、ピロリ菌を無差別に根絶する作戦を世界に指揮した。その日本への影響は、開国を迫った黒船のようなものだった。

しかし、そのグラハム教授は、教授ではあるが、現在はフェロー扱いになっているようである。

そのためか？

ベイラー大学の消化器病のセクションの複数の著者からなる一番新しい胃癌とピロリ菌の論文に、グラハム教授の名前はなく、そして、驚くべきことに、抄録の最後に以下の文章があった。

This finding suggests there may be other important causal factors apart from H. pylori　for gastric adenocarcinoma.

この発見は、胃腺癌の場合、ピロリ菌とは別に他の重要な原因因子が存在する可能性があることを示唆しています。
