1950s, at Hirosaki University in Japan, the movement of the large intestine has been investigated.
 
By barium enema, the movement of the large intestine has been recorded in detail.

In that study, antispasmodic was not used.

The movement of the large intestine filled with barium was continuously observed in fuluoroscopy.

Similar studies had been conducted in Europe and the United States in the 1920s. However, these studies had been performed by some of X-ray photography.


Then, double contrast method was performed: barium and air are infused to the colon, and the anticonvulsant is injected.

Therefore, dynamic observation for the human colon is not present in the other.
